MOUNT ULLA – West Rowan junior Olyvia Brown, undefeated state wrestling champ at 114 pounds, was recently presented with the Barry Justus Award that goes to Rowan County’s Female Wrestler of the Year.
The award is voted on by the county’s head coaches.
Brown was 43-0 and dominated all 43 matches. Her closest match was a major decision. The other 42 matches were pins or tech falls.
Brown also competes in tennis and soccer for the Falcons.
She’s the daughter of long-time West Rowan boys coach John Brown and the granddaughter of Hall of Fame wrestling referee Johnny Brown.
“Olyvia represented West Rowan in fabulous fashion,” Justus said.
