JJ Andrews, a 6-foot-7 player from Arkansas, will be wearing the 23 jersey for the West All-Stars.
Different scouting services have different rankings, but Andrews is considered one of the best ever from Arkansas and a consensus top 12 player in the country. He signed with the University of Arkansas.
Andrews has agility and length, shoots the ball well and is unusually strong for a wing. He is powerful as well as swift and has the wingspan of a 7-footer.
His father, Shawn Andrews, was an All-SEC and All-America offensive lineman at Arkansas and went on to a substantial NFL career that included Pro Bowl nods in 2006 and 2007.
His mother, Janetta Heggins Andrews, stood out in volleyball, track and field and basketball in the late 1990s and graduated from South Rowan. She played college basketball at Western Carolina and is in the Salisbury-Rowan Hall of Fame.
When she was inducted into the Halal a few years ago, her famous son, who was already famous, and husband both made the trip to Salisbury.
