From Livingstone College track and field
SALISBURY – Livingstone College athletes headed to the CIAA Outdoor Track and Feld Championships in Durham on Thursday.
Four Livingstone track and field athletes were honored by the CIAA recently.
Livingstone competed in the John Weaver Invitational at Appalachian State. Heaven Copeland was named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for standout performances in the 100 meters and the 4×100 relay. The 4×100 relay finished second in 46.40 seconds, an NCAA provisional mark.
Sabrena Hogan was the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after placing fifth in the long jump and third in the triple jump in a field with D-I competition in the John Weaver Invitational. Her triple jump ranks third in the CIAA this season.
Elijah Fraser was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for placing fourth at App State in the 100 in 11.77 seconds. He also ran on the 4×100 team that clocked 40.68, an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and the program’s best performance since the early 2000s.
Marqui Cheeks was the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performances in the throws. He was fifth in the shot put and the discus in the John Weaver Invitational John Weaver Invitational. He ranks fifth in the CIAA in the shot put.
