MISENHEIMER – Pfeiffer outfielder Landry Stewart has been voted USA South Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Stewart, who played high school softball at Carson, is the eighth player in league history to be named Player of the Year in consecutive seasons.
During the regular season, Stewart led USA South in batting average (.504), on-base percentage (.559), runs scored (49), hits (64), and set a new USA South single-season record for stolen bases (58).
Against USA South opponents, Stewart posted a .597 batting average.
Pfeiffer first baseman Heather Vaughn was named USA South Rookie of the Year. Pfeiffer’s Abigail Bowman was named Rookie Pitcher of the Year.
Pfeiffer’s Natalie Auman (second base), Kirstyn Herman (catcher) and Mollie Bulla (utility) joined Srewart, Bowman and Vaughn on the All-USA South first team.
Pfeiffer’s Ky Perdue (shortstop) and EA Nance (outfield) made the second team. Nance is a freshman from West Rowan.
Pfeiffer is the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament, while Meredith is the No. 2 seed.
Pfeiffer and Meredith are hosting four-team, double-elimination tournaments to get the event started.
Pfeiffer won easily against Salem on Thursday.
