SALISBURY — Catawba swept Saturday’s South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader at Newman Park.
The sixth-ranked Indians beat UVA Wise 9-2 and 3-1. Catawba is 20-4 overall, 10-0 at Newman Park and 13-2 in the SAC.
Brandon Crabtree homered, doubled twice and went 5-for-5 in the first game. He drove in two.
Nathan Chrismon (South Rowan) had three hits, including two doubles. Malachi Cloud drove in two. Logan Dyer (East Rowan) had two hits.
Catawba got strong, long relief outings from Seth Sharpe, the winner, and Braeden Major, who was credited with a save.

In the seven-inning nightcap, Casey Gouge (West Rowan) pitched into the fifth for the win. J0e Burleyson (East Rowan) got the last seven outs.
Cameron Burleyson (Carson) had two hits for the Indians. Burleyson and Dyer had doubles. Dyer’s double in the fourth scored Burleyson with a tie-breaking run.
Sam Hunter tripled. Chrismon homered.
Catawba will play UNC Pembroke at home on Tuesday. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
