SPENCER —North Rowan walloped Salisbury 17-4 in five innings in Wednesday’s non-conference game.
Zane Smith reached base four times and stole five bases for the Cavaliers (2-6). Smith had a two-run triple.
Caleb Everett had a triple and two RBIs.
TJ Heggins had two hits.
Everett and Donnie Rogers pitched two innings apiece for the Cavaliers (2-6). Both hurlers sttruck out four.
Ben Yost had two hits for the Hornets (1-9).

GRANITE QUARRY — Old Dominion recruit Charlie Shaver shut down East Rowan’s offense and also hit a home run in North Stanly’s 2-0 non-conference win at Staton Field on Wednesday,
Brady Ailshie pitched well for five innings but took his first loss of the season.
Charlie Lefler struck out four in two innings of relief for the Mustangs.
Zeke Stewart had two of East’s four hits. Harrison Ailshie and Braylen Ketchie also had hits for the Mustangs (11-2).
Nathan Helms had a triple for the Comets (6-2).

CHINA GROVE — Davie won 6-4 at Carson in Wednesday’s non-Conference game.
Justin Prevette, Colton Monteith and Cameron Williamson pitched for the Cougars (3-8).
Davie (7-4) trailed early but turned things around with a four-run third.
Ryan Snyder had two RBIs for the Cougars. Williamson had two hits. Dylan Alexander drove in a run.

CHINA GROVE — Carson jumped ahead of Lake Norman Charter 7-1 early and held on for a 9-6 non-conference victory on Wednesday.
Caylee Snow was the winning pitcher for the Cougars (4-5).
Snow, Piper Thonen, Leah Troutman, Bel Gaither and Reagan Bradshaw swung hot bats for the Cougars.
LN Charter had beaten the Cougars 11-3 earlier this season.

CONCORD — Cannon School beat West Rowan 12-1 in six innings in non-conference softball on Wednesday.
The Falcons (4-5) had a rough outing, getting only three hits and making five errors.
Kayla Burns had West’s RBI.
Ansley Jenkins and Raney Phelps pitched better than it sounds.

High school boys golf
MOUNT AIRY — Salisbury golfers competed at Mount Airy Country Club on Wednesday.
Bryant Davis shot 40 to lead the Hornets. Other scorers were Sam Goodman (41), Nolt Lescoe (41) and John McCoy (44).
College baseball
The Padgett brothers, East Rowan graduates, had good days for their college teams on Wednesday.
Cameron retired all six batters he faced to finish UNC’s 9-1 win against South Carolina.
Morgan had three RBIs for UNC Pembroke in a 10-9 win against Wingate.
