Five people were arrested on Wednesday after deputies said they found cocaine during a traffic stop and during a subsequent search of their hotel rooms.
The investigation began after deputies stopped a silver Chevrolet Malibu that had just left the Days Inn on Yadkinville Road in Mocksville for an unspecified traffic violation, according to a release from the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. During the stop, deputies reportedly identified the driver as Shante Rochelle Brown and the passenger as Shacory Avery Brown and smelled smelled an odor of alcohol and observed an open container of Coors Light in the center console.
Deputies then searched the vehicle and found over 80 grams of cocaine and crack, 14 grams of marijuana and over $13,000 in currency, according to the release. Deputies also reportedly learned that Brown had rented two rooms at the Days Inn and requested the Davie County Narcotics Division to assist.
While deputies secured the rooms, another person, later identified as Meosha Obrien Parks, pulled into the parking lot. Deputies reportedly approached that person and smelled an odor of alcohol and noticed an open container inside of the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and located cocaine, taking the person into custody, according to the release.
