FLORENCE, S.C. — Catawba’s softball team split Wednesday’s doubleheader at Francis Marion.
It was a good split for the Indians (8-4), as Francis Marion was ranked sixth in Division II and was one of the highest ranked opponents Catawba ever has beaten.
Jordan McCorkle’s homer provided the only Catawba noise in a 6-1 loss in the first game.
Kate Holland pitched a complete game and the Indians pushed across two runs in the sixth to win the second game, 2-1.
Rachel Pressley had two hits.
Catawba center fielder Grace Flynn is the reigning SAC Player of the Week. She socked four homers as Catawba recently won six straight non-conference home games.
