A teen motorist killed in a collision on Thursday has been identified by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Victoria Overcash, 17, of Salisbury, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck which occurred on Brown Road near China Grove Thursday morning, according to N.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Whit Efird.
Efird indicated that evidence collected during the ensuing investigation revealed that Overcash was traveling south when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a garbage truck traveling north.
Overcash was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin has been notified as of this posting.
The deceased was a senior at J.C. Carson High School. According to an official with Rowan-Salisbury Schools, Carson had additional counselors for students and staff on campus Thursday.
