A man charged with sex crimes involving a child in Rowan County was arrested on Friday in Charlotte.
Oliver Navarro, 20, of Charlotte, was arrested and charged with felony first-degree statutory rape and felony indecent liberties with a child.
According to information from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, on November 29, 2025, the department received a report of a six-year-old being sexually assaulted by a then-19-year-old relative. Investigators learned that on that day, the victim’s mother interrupted the assault, and the suspect identified as Navarro was confronted by family and law enforcement.
The victim was reportedly taken to Atrium Health Cabarrus Medical Center for an evaluation and later forensically interviewed at the Terrie Hess Child Advocacy Center.
According to the info from the sheriff’s office, detectives along with social workers from the Rowan County Department of Social Services learned that Navarro allegedly sexually assaulted the victim at their residence in an “apparent isolated incident.”
Arrest warrants for Navarro were obtained for the above mentioned charges. Navarro’s court date is set for March 16. He received no bond.
