SALISBURY — Authorities arrested an individual allegedly involved in a Feb. 15 shooting that sent one victim to the hospital with serious injuries.
Darrion Ravon Black stands accused of assault with a dealy weapon with intent to kill/inflicting serious injury, two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied (vehicle) and discharging a firearm within city limits. He was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 22, and is currently being held without bond.
According to information from the Salisbury Police Department, officers responded to a call and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound at a car dealership on Jake Alexander Boulevard West on Feb. 15. The investigation revealed the shooting occurred on I-85 between East Innes Street and Jake Alexander Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly located the victim and “immediately rendered life-saving aid” until EMS arrived. While the victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, the latest from the SPD is that they are expected to recover.
Initial reports from the SPD shortly after the incident indicated that there was movement between the two vehicles as both got onto the interstate heading south that reportedly prompted the truck driver to go and pull around them before discharging a firearm. The victim was reportedly stuck as the vehicle exited the interstate.
The Salisbury Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit conducted the investigation and developed probable cause to charge Black.
“SPD extends its thoughts to the victim and his family during his recovery,” noted the department in a release.
