MONROE – North Rowan’s girls lost 69-56 at Union Academy Charter on Thursday.
The Cavaliers played without Zakiya Oglesby, their leading scorer and rebounder, but made a solid effort in the Yadkin Valley Conference contest.
That’s the most points the Cavaliers (5-12, 3-2) have scored this season without getting the win.
“We didn’t play bad at all,” North head coach Jarvis Miller said. “We just didn’t have enough to get over the hump.”
Kanya Cowan tied her career high with 17 points to lead North. Essence Robinson scored 10 and has been in double figures in four of her last five. Robinson had three buckets in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Melanie Parker scored 15, her fourth straight game in double digits.
“She’s getting better and better,” Miller said.
Adrionna King contributed eight points.
Union Academy is 7-10 overall and 4-1 (second place) in the YVC.
