MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan’s wrestling team beat East Rowan 42-29 on Wednesday in a match that decided the South Piedmont Conference championship.
Both teams came into the match with unblemished conference records.
West got pins from Drew Taylor (157), Evan Paustian (175) and Bryson Ellis (heavyweight).
Harry Hartwell and Xavier Gray won by forfeit.
Oliver Perry won by tech fall at 138. Mason Truman won by major decision at 132. James Stephens won a decision at 144.
Cole Goucher (106), Catoe Byrd (120) and Lucas Restrepo (126) had pins for the Mustangs. Chris McDonald won by tech fall at 113. James Banks (150) and Braylen Yates (165) won decisions.

West beat Fred T. Foard 67-12, with Bryson Wilhelm,Truman, Perry, Stephens, Taylor, Paustian, Gray and Ellis registering pins. Ryan Wallacxe and Jeremiah Griffin won by forfeit. Chris Gaither won a major decision, while Holland Wellman took a decision.
Fred T. Foard won only 1t 144 and 190.
