SALISBURY — Fayetteville State’s men’s basketball team came to Livingstone’s New Trent Gym on Wednesday averaging 89 points per game.
LC’s goal had to be to control the pace and make the Broncos play a half-court game, but that didn’t happen.
Fayetteville State had 51 points on the board by halftime and beat the Blue Bears 96-80.
Fayetteville State (11-6, 6-2) put seven in double figures – yes, seven – led by Terrell Williams’ 19 points.
Erick Coffey had a super game for the Blue Bears (8-11, 2-5), scoring 21 points. James Nipper had 14, while Jacob Hukins scored 10.
The Broncos had small edges on the boards and in the turnover battle, but basically they just shot quite a bit better. The visitors checked in at 45 percent from the field with seven 3-pointers. Livingstone shot 37.3 percent with five 3s.
