CHINA GROVE — Carson running back Damo’n Broussard, one of Rowan County’s most talented young football players, announced on social media that he’ll transfer to Hopewell, a 7A school in Huntersville.
Broussard is a sophomore and played two varsity seasons for Carson.
As a freshman, he carried 91 times for 499 yards and six touchdowns.
He had 86 carries for 684 yards and seven TDs as a sophomore. Broussard scored two touchdowns in the win against Mount Pleasant, including a pivotal 75-yard breakaway, and also had two TDs in a win over Salisbury.
Broussard finished seventh in the county in rushing yards this season, as Carson spreads out the carries in a veer offense. He averaged nearly 8 yards per carry.
Hopewell made the 7A state playoffs, losing to Butler in the first round, but is being touted as a young, up and coming team.
