SALISBURY — Free throws aren’t exciting, but they’re easy points.
Salisbury’s boys basketball team made 18 free throws in the first half on Monday and was well on its way to blasting A.L. Brown in a non-conference matchup.
The Hornets led 35-14 at the break, scored the first eight points of the second half and routed the Wonders 74-40.
“We did a nice job of penetrating in the first half,” Salisbury head coach Albert Perkins said. “We forced them into foul situations.”
Braylon Taylor sat down after three quarters with 19 points. He made six free throws in the second quarter and had a nine-point third quarter for the Hornets (3-0).
Jon Ross made three 3-pointers and scored 18. Blake Smith scored 11 of his 13 points during the Hornets’ 28-point third quarter. Freshman Royce Perkins added 10 points.
The Wonders fell to 2-2.
