LEXINGTON — North Rowan’s boys basketball team experienced a scoring drought in the second quarter, and Lexington pulled away for a 91-61 non-conference win on Tuesday.
“We played well in the first quarter,” North head coach Herb Liles said. “We did a good job on defense, getting steals and deflections that led to easy transition points.”
Lexington took better care of the ball in the second quarter, and North’s offensive production dried up. North had a seven-point second quarter. That lull proved decisive. Lexington led by 15 at the half.
“Even when we got steals, we could not convert,” Liles said. “And we weren’t moving the ball in the half court.”
North tried to make a run in the third quarter, but there wasn’t much gas left in the tank after playing a draining game at Statesville on Monday.
Carter Williams scored 27 for the Cavaliers (1-3). KeKe Carpenter contributed 13.
Andre Gyabaah scored 22 to lead the Yellow Jackets (2-0). Aaron Holmes scored 18.
