Carson won on the road in the first round of the 5A dual team tennis state playoffs on Monday.
The Cougars beat North Gaston 6-0, with Caylee Sheets, Annabel Melton, Ava Brown, Brooklyn Johnson, Morgan Hall and Braylee Johnson sweeping singles. Doubles weren’t needed.
South Rowan ended the season with a 7-2 loss to CATA in the 4A playoffs. East Rowan ended the season with a 6-0 loss to Franklin in the 5A playoffs.
Carson will play at West Henderson on Wednesday.
Salisbury had a first-round bye in the 4A playoffs and will host Ledford on Wednesday. Ledford won 6-0 against North Pitt in the first round.
West Rowan had a first-round bye in 5A and will be in second-round action on Wednesday against Oak Grove. Oak Grove won 5-1 against Forestview in the first round.
North Rowan had a first-round bye in 2A and is scheduled to play at Christ the King in the second round.
