ROWAN COUNTY — Rowan Creek Week returns Sept. 12-19, inviting residents and visitors to get outside, explore local waterways and learn more about the importance of protecting the streams, rivers, lakes and wetlands that help make Rowan County a great place to live, work and play.
Now in its eighth year, Rowan Creek Week features more than 20 free events and activities designed to connect people of all ages with the county’s natural resources. From fishing and creek crawls to nature walks, educational workshops, litter cleanups and literacy events, the week offers something for everyone while highlighting the vital role clean water plays in our daily lives.
“Rowan Creek Week is a celebration of the waterways that connect our communities and support our quality of life,” said Kelli Isenhour, education coordinator for Rowan County Soil & Water Conservation District and Rowan Creek Week organizer. “Whether you’re exploring a creek or volunteering at a cleanup, Creek Week provides opportunities to learn about our local waters.”
