The Rowan Chamber of Commerce has officially welcomed its new president.
Dr. Christine Lynn began her role with the chamber on Monday.
Lynn is an accomplished higher education executive, workforce strategist and community leader with nearly two decades of experience building partnerships that connect talent, employers, education and economic opportunity. Most recently, Lynn served as associate dean for the Ketner School of Business at Catawba College.
Since moving to Rowan County five years ago, Lynn has been actively involved with the Rowan Chamber, serving as chair-elect and earning recognition as the Chamber’s Paul E. Fisher Volunteer of the Year and top Total Resource Campaign volunteer.
As Rowan Chamber President, Lynn will lead the chamber’s programs and initiatives, support and advocate for chamber members, develop partnerships throughout the community, and work with the Board of Directors and staff to advance the chamber’s mission.
Lynn is eager to start building relationships with members and learning more about the businesses and organizations that make up Rowan County.
“I’m looking forward to building on the strong work already underway while also asking what’s next for Rowan County and its business community. I want the chamber to be a place where members find connections, advocacy, resources and opportunities, but also where we’re willing to tackle the bigger issues that affect our economy, workforce and quality of life. I’m looking forward to bringing people to the table, finding opportunities to move Rowan County forward, and making sure our members see real value in being part of this chamber,” said Lynn.
Originally from Upper Arlington (Columbus), Ohio, Lynn was drawn to Rowan County for its servant leadership, rich history and charm, its food and the many hidden gems tucked throughout the county, and most of all, its people. Shortly after moving to Rowan County, Lynn visited New Sarum Brewery and crossed paths with Bill and Rosemary Hall when they needed a hand with their umbrella. What began as a brief interaction ended with Lynn leaving with Rosemary’s phone number, an offer to help with Lynn’s elderly father, whom Rosemary had never met, and a new friendship. To Lynn, that moment captured something special about Rowan County — people look out for one another, open their doors to strangers, and take pride in wrapping their arms around the place they call home.
In her free time, Lynn enjoys spending time outdoors, playing golf, hiking, cooking, exploring North Carolina and cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. She is also an avid foodie and a self-described treasure hunter who loves exploring local restaurants, estate sales, antique markets and vintage finds throughout Rowan County.
Former President Elaine Spalding will remain with the chamber through Aug. 27 to assist with the transition before beginning her retirement.
