SALISBURY — Residents at a home on Calvin Avenue were disturbed by the sound of gunfire early Sunday.
According to Salisbury Police Department reports, around 1:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the residence in reference to a shooting. Upon further investigation, officers determined that the home and a vehicle parked at the address were both struck by gunfire.
At the time of the shooting, there were adults and juveniles inside the home.
Shell casings were reportedly discovered at the nearby intersection of Calvin Avenue and Julia Drive. A spokesperson for the SPD said that the shell casings appeared to have been fired by a handgun.
Photographs of the damage to the vehicle and home were taken by law enforcement. Investigators are currently in the process of requesting possible camera footage from neighboring homes and asking for possible additional witness information. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.

- Larceny from a motor vehicle occurred in the 6400 block of Turkey Road (Kannapolis) between 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 and 9:48 a.m. on Aug. 15. The total estimated loss was $1,700.
- Larceny occurred in the 3500 block of Stokes Ferry Road (Salisbury) around 8:52 a.m. on Aug. 17.
- Vandalism causing property damage occurred in the 1300 block of Adams Street (Spencer) between 2 p.m. on Aug. 13 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 16.
- Vandalism causing property damage occurred in the 100 block of U.S. Hwy. 80 (Gold Hill) between 11:15 and 11:25 a.m. on Aug. 17.
- Burglary occurred in the 8100 block of Freeze Road (Kannapolis) between 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 11 and 1:43 p.m. on Aug. 17.
- A motor vehicle theft occurred in the 1300 block of Julian Road (Salisbury) between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 17.
- Identity theft occurred in the 3200 block of East Ridge Road (Salisbury) between 1 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 1:58 p.m. on Aug. 17. The total estimated loss was $1,200.
