An individual is in custory and facing murder charges for his alleged role in the shooting death of a Kannapolis teen earlier this week.
Nehemiah Kentrell Gibson-Rogers, 17, of 1717 Oakcrest Drive turned himself into Kannapolis Police officers Thursday evening.
Gibson-Rogers is accused of killing 17-year-old Legend Imir Benjamin in a shooting that occurred on Coldwater Lane on Monday.
According to information provided from the Kannapolis communications director, first responders found Benjamin deceased from an apparent gunshot wound after being dispatched to Coldwater Lane around 9:15 p.m.
Reports indicated that it appeared to be an isolated incident. Information obtained during the investigation suggested that a red SUV was observed leaving the scene. It is unclear at this time if that was the evidence that linked Gibson-Rogers to the crime. Gibson-Rogers is currently in the Cabarrus County Jail under no bond.
Anyone with information regarding the incident, is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 704-93-CRIME. Information is kept anonymous and the caller may be eligible for a reward.
