BOYS TENNIS
CONCORD – Salisbury’s boys tennis team won 9-0 at Northwest Cabarrus on Wednesday.
It was a big one for the Hornets (10-1, 9-0) as it gave them a season sweep of the second-place team in the South Piedmont Conference. The Hornets have a great chance to run the table in the league.
AJ Jarrell, Bryant Davis, Aiden Moss and Owen Hammill won their singles matches with relative ease.
Henry Walser’s win at No. 3 singles was anything but routine – 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), (11-9). Luke Yang also won an exciting match at No. 6 on a third-set tiebreaker. That one went 4-6, 7-5, (10-3).
Jarrell-Davis, Walser-Moss and Hammill-Luke Fowler were winning doubles teams.
SOFTBALL
PFAFFTOWN – Reese Poole hit another home run, but it was a solo, and Reagan was able to beat West Rowan 3-1 on Wednesday.
West was shut out by the Raiders (8-5) until Poole homered in the sixth.
Ansley Jenkins and Kayla Burns also had hits for the Falcons.
Jenkins pitched well for five innings and gave the Falcons (6-7) a chance. Poole pitched the sixth.

CONCORD – Central Cabarrus’ Cecilia Measmer pitched a five-inning, no-hitter on Wednesday in the Vikings’ 12-0 win against Carson.
Haley Rezy hit a home run for Central (10-2). Carson fell to 4-8 with the non-conference setback.

CONCORD – Arlee Donnell pitched a three-inning, no-hitter on Wednesday, as Northwest Cabarrus beat Salisbury 16-1.
Northwest had a nine-run second inning.
Ella Webb homered for the Trojans (5-5, 3-4). Haylee Ellis had a triple.
