Friday games …
SOFTBALL
LANDIS – South Rowan’s softball team scored 13 runs in the first inning and beat Salisbury 21-2 on Friday in a South Piedmont Conference game.
The Raiders (14-1, 10-0) stayed unbeaten in the SPC. They are two games up on West Rowan and East Rowan.
Cressley Patterson had a humongous outing with a homer and three doubles in her four at-bats. She scored four runs and knocked in seven. She has eight homers and 19 extra-base hits for the season.
Leisha Carter also homered for the Raiders. She had two RBIs.
Mary Okula made her pitching debut and was the winner. She struck out five. At the plate, Okula had two hits and four RBIs.
Okula, Danica Krieg and Remi Hagerty had triples.
Tenley Shell and Addi Bostian had two RBIs. Kennley Currie and Avery Fisher scored three runs.
Amariah Gibson had a hit and RBI for the Hornets (0-12, 0-9).

MOUNT ULLA – West Rowan routed Robinson 15-0 in a three-inning South Piedmont Conference game on Friday.
Raney Phelps pitched a no-hitter for the Falcons (8-9, 8-2). She struck out three and walked two.
West scored 13 runs in the second inning.
Phelps had a big game at the plate with a triple, three runs and four RBIs.
Ava Baxter also tripled for the Falcons. Ansley Jenkins had a double and two RBIs. Makynzie Melchor had two RBIs. Lucy Shelton scored three runs. Lacey Houghton scored twice.

GRANITE QUARRY – Lily Kluttz and Kimberly Troublefield had two hits each as East Rowan beat Carson 10-3 on Friday in South Piedmont Conference softball.
Kluttz and Maicy Miller had doubles for the Mustangs (10-6, 7-2).
Charlotte Sammons was the winning pitcher.
Leah Troutman had two hits for the Cougars (7-9, 4-6).

KANNAPOLIS – Hickory Ridge edged A.L. Brown 8-7 in a battle of Greater Metro Conference contenders on Friday.
The Wonders overcame a 6-0 deficit to tie the game, but the Bulls (11-5, 8-1) won with a run in the seventh.
Isabella Rusher had two of the Wonders’ six hits.
Kaylee Dunning and Mary Katherine Black pitched for A.L. Brown (10-4, 8-2). They only walked one.
GIRLS SOCCER
MOUNT ULLA – Robinson got goals from Reagan Sherwood and Eden West and survived an upset bid by West Rowan in Friday’s South Piedmont Conference match.
The Bulldogs (10-1, 7-1) escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Falcons (4-6, 2-6).

GRANITE QUARRY – Two goals by Kailin Bomely and one by Lucy Stanley lifted East Rowan to a 3-0 victory against Carson in South Piedmont Conference soccer on Friday.
The Mustangs (2-11-1, 2-6) finished a sweep of the Cougars (2-9, 0-8).
HIGH SCHOOL BOYS GOLF
The Rowan County Championships are scheduled for Crescent on Monday at 1 p.m.
Salisbury has won the last three county titles, but East Rowan is quite strong this year. It’s expected to be exciting.
The county is deeper than in some years. South Rowan, Carson and West Rowan have all had strong individual and team performances in South Piedmont Conference matches.
HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD
The Robert Steele Rowan County Championships are scheduled for Thursday, April 23, at East Rowan. Starting time is 4 p.m.
