Friday games …
CONCORD – Northwest Cabarrus knocked off West Rowan 7-5 in South Piedmont Conference softball on Friday.
The Trojans (8-8, 6-6) overcame a 3-1 deficit for their biggest league victory of the season. Northwest took a 4-3 lead in the fifth and added three runs in the sixth.
Isabella Ellis had a double for the Trojans. Haylee Ellis pitched a complete game with four walks and two strikeouts. She held the hard-hitting Falcons to six singles.
West pitchers Ansley Jenkins, Raney Phelps and Reese Poole pitched well enough to win most games – combing for five strikeouts and two walks – but the Falcons made five errors.
Jenkins knocked in two runs for West (9-11, 9-3). Phelps was credited with one RBI.
The loss eliminated West from contention in the SPC, but the Falcons are still tied with East Rowan for second place.

CONCORD – Carson clobbered Robinson 16-5 in six innings in South Piedmont Conference softball on Friday.
The Cougars trailed 4-3 going to the fourth, but turned things around with a four-run inning.
Caylee Snow and Zoey Moore had triples for the Cougars. Anna Beck had a double.
Moore had two of Carson’s seven hits.
Robinson pitcher Kendra Nichols struck out 10 and walked seven. Morgan Shane had a triple for the Bulldogs (6-10, 2-10).

KANNAPOLIS – A.L. Brown pummeled Olympic 16-0 in a three-inning Greater Metro Conference game on Friday.
The Wonders (13-4, 10-2) put snowmen (8s) on the scoreboard against the Trojans (1-10, 1-10) in the two innings in which they batted.
Mary Katherine Black, Taylor Murph and Kennedy Yow had triples for the Wonders.
Black and Kaylee Dunning combined on a no-hitter with seven strikeouts.
