Wednesday games …
CHINA GROVE – Caylee Snow was strong in the circle – eight strikeouts and one earned run – to lead Carson to an 8-2 win against Gray Stone in a non-conference softball game played on Wednesday.
Snow and Leah Troutman had two hits for the Cougars (9-12).
Bel Gaither and Peyton Cheek had three RBIs apiece.
Carson led 8-0 after three innings.
Gray Stone (4-10) only had three hits against Snow. Lindsey Stirewalt scored a run and knocked in one.

OAKBORO – West Stanly scored eight runs in the fifth inning and mercy-ruled East Rowan 11-1 in a non-conference game on Wednesday.
It was 1-all after three innings. The Colts led 3-1 going to the fifth, but ended the game abruptly with the eight-run outburst
Saylor Edwards homered for the Colts (19-4). Nevaeh Alexander had a triple.
Madison Kirkland struck out six, walked none and held the Mustangs to three hits.
Kirkland is one of three strong West Stanly pitchers. West Stanly is seventh in the 4A RPI rankings.
East (14-9) will look to bounce back on Friday at Concord in the final game of the regular season.

CLEMMONS – West Forsyth scored with two outs in the seventh and beat South Rowan 3-2 in non-conference softball on Wednesday.
The road trip ended South’s 13-game winning streak, but it was good preparation for the upcoming playoffs. West Forsyth (18-4) is fifth in the 8A RPI rankings. South is 11th in RPI in 4A.
Remi Hagerty pitched all the way for South (17-2). She struck out six and walked one. The Titans had seven hits.
A single by Tenley Shell scored Avery Fisher and Mary Okula in the second inning.
Cressley Patterson had a double for the Raiders.
In addition to Patterson and Shell, Hagerty, Fisher and Danica Krieg had hits for South.
South led 2-1 until West Forsyth tied the game in the fifth.
Meredith Casey pitched six innings for the Titans. Morgan Maxwell pitched the top of the seventh and got credit for the win. Maxwell and Liv Shulz had two hits each.
