CONCORD – Harrison Ailshie launched a grand slam to highlight East Rowan’s 15-0 romp at Concord on Friday.
They played five innings. Both teams closed the regular season.
East, the South Piedmont Conference champs, didn’t score in the first two innings, but got three in the third. Ailshie’s towering blast to right field was part of a 12-run fourth. Ailshie enjoyed a 3-f0r-3 night.
The homer was only the fourth of the season for Ailshie, who had been pitched around frequently as a senior and has missed a few games with a strained back muscle. There’s a reason the UNC recruit and potential draft pick has been pitched around, as he’s batting .585. The on-base percentage is .690. He’s walked 17 times, while striking out twice.
Ailshie has scored 27 runs while driving in 24 for the Mustangs (20-4, 13-1). He has eight doubles and one triple.
Logan Bradley had a strong night with three hits and three RBIs. Isaiah Osterhus and Parker McGinnis drove in two each.
Julian Cauble had two hits. Holden Frick scored three runs, while Gavin Loftis and Andrew Myrick, who gets most his action as a pinch-runner, scored twice.
On the mound, Cauble tossed three scoreless innings. Ryan Friel pitched the fourth and fifth and didn’t allow a hit.
Concord (4-18, 3-11) had three hits.
