GREENSBORO — David Cornelius Ramsue Jr. died on Feb. 24, at 49.
Ramsue, who grew up in Cleveland, was a Boy Scout and a regular at Sunday School and church.
He competed for West Rowan in football, wrestling and track and field.
He is remembered as a tough competitor who wore the 43 jersey and played middle linebacker for the football Falcons. Listed at 5-foot-8, 175 pounds, he was undersized for the position, but he was All-Rowan County and All-Yadkin Valley Conference as a senior in the fall of 1993.
Ramsue graduated from West in 1994. He was active in the Octagon and Black History clubs at West and worked at Village Inn Pizza.
He was an outstanding student. He was awarded a John Leazer Scholarship and a J.C. Price National Alumni Association Scholarship.
He continued his education at North Carolina A&T.
He spent his working life with UPS in Greensboro where he earned the nickname “Cole Brown.”
