SALISBURY — Salisbury’s boys tennis team won an exciting South Piedmont Conference match with Northwest Cabarrus on Wednesday.
The Hornets (2-0, 2-0) won 6-3. Northwest (2-1, 2-1) won at 4 and 6 singles and No. 2 doubles.
AJ Jarrell and Bryant Davis had pretty wins at 1 and 2 singles, but the Hornets had to take survive hotly contested matches at 3 and 5.
Salisbury’s Aiden Moss lost the first set, won the second set in a tiebreaker and then won a third-set tiebreaker.
Officially, it was 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), (10-3).
Luke Yang had to go to a third-set tiebreaker to win at 5.
Jarrell-Bryant breezed at No. 1 doubles and Salisbury won 9-7 at No. 3 doubles with Owen Hammill-Luke Fowler.

CONCORD — A very young South Rowan team played shorthanded at Concord and lost 7-2 in South Piedmont Conference tennis on Wednesday.
The Raiders (1-3, 1-3) got wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Winning doubles teams were Coen Overby-Brecken Sutton and Finn Basinger-Matthew Rohl.

CONCORD — East Rowan won 9-0 on Wednesday against shorthanded Robinson.
The Bulldogs forfeited at 5 and 6 singles and 3 doubles.
Thomas Stokes, Will Kesler, Spencer Ingram and Isaiah Garza won contested singles matches for the Mustangs (1-2, 1-2).
Stokes-Kesler and Ingram-Tobi Brink were winning doubles teams.
