MOUNT ULLA — Luke Ponczka homered and West Rowan’s baseball team smacked seven doubles in a 22-3 romp against Concord in Friday’s South Piedmont Conference game.
West (4-1, 2-0) had 16 hits in the five-inning game.
Ponczka had two odoubles and drove in five runs. Lucas Watts went 3-for-3 with two doubles and scored four runs. Carter Durant had two hits and scored three runs. Preston Javidi had three hits, scored three times and drove in three. Carter Lefebvre had two hits and scored twice. Dylan Carter had two runs and two RBIs. Cole Blevins scored three runs.
West’s onslaught included an 11-run third inning.
Brant Graham pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts for the easy win.
Blevins struck out four while getting the last five outs.
Concord is 0-4 and 0-2 in the SPC.

GRANITE QUARRY — Robinson hasn’t won yet, but the Bulldogs put a fight against East Rowan at Staton Field in Friday’s South Piedmont Conference game.
East pulled it out, 4-3, with a run in the bottom of the sixth to stay undefeated.
Isaiah Osterhus had two of East’s four hits and drove in a run. Gavin Loftis drove in a run. Logan Bradley scored two runs.
Zach Misenheimer struck out six in three innings for the Mustangs.
Julian Cauble was the winning pitcher. He fanned nine Bulldogs (0-3, 0-2) in four innings of relief.
