SALISBURY — Catawba’s baseball team cruised to a 10-3 victory against UVA Wise on Friday in the opening game of a South Atlantic Conference series at Newman Park.
Catawba (18-4, 11-2) is 8-0 at home. The Indians got homers from Matthew Connolly (West Rowan) and Hunter Atkins. Sam Hunter had a triple. Catawba had six doubles.
Jake Dunlap and Ty Hubbard (South Rowan) drove in two runs each.
Colt Wilkins (4-1) took advantage of the run support for the pitching win.
The teams are playing two today at Newman Park.
