ATLANTA — Morehouse beat Tuskegee 77-69 on Saturday in a significant men’s basketball game in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The teams were leading their respective SIAC divisions. The win by Morehouse was the ninth in a row for the Maroon Tigers.
Morehouse is coached by North Rowan graduate Larry Dixon. Dixon brought many years of coaching experience as an assistant in Division I to Morehouse, the first college to offer him a head coaching job.
Morehouse (13-7) was out-rebounded and out-shot from the field by Tuskegee (15-4), but Morehouse had big advantages at the free-throw line and the 3-point line. Morehouse made 10 3-pointers and shot 86 percent on free throws.
The next scheduled game for Morehouse is at home against Kentucky State on Tuesday night.
