Staff report
NEWBERRY, S.C. — Catawba’s Daniel twins, sophomore guards, posted eye-catching stat lines in Wednesday’s 76-61 win at Newberry.
Carson Daniel made three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 18 points. Chase Daniel had one of the best stat lines ever for someone who scored zero points. He had eight rebounds and five assists.
Ibra Athie scored 12 for the Indians in the South Atlantic Conference basketball contest in Eleazer Arena. Justin Banks and Jashaun Hawkins scored 10 each. Hawkins got his 10 in nine minutes.
Catawba only shot 40 percent, but made eight 3s. The Indians won the rebounding fight and the turnover battle, so it was a pretty low-key night as far as Catawba road games normally go. The Wolves, who shot 38 percent, fell to 10-17 overall and 6-15 in the league.
Catawba has won seven of its last eight against Newberry.
Catawba wraps up the regular season at UVA Wise on Saturday.
