South was very respectable in the tournament from 2000-2014 — South won at least one Moir game every year from 2000-2010 — but it’s been a struggle since then. The Raiders’ current losing streak in the tournament is 25 straight.
All-time Moir team (2000-24):
Hunter Morrison — He’s the captain. Morrison had a 25-point effort to beat West Rowan in the 2007 Moir and lit up Davie for 35 in a win in 2008.
Andrew Morgan — South’s 93-92 Moir semifinal victory against Davie in 2001 may have been the Raiders’ peak tournament effort for this century. Morgan was one of the five Raiders in double figures that night. Then he scored 23 in 2002 to beat Davie again.
Doug Daugherty — He averaged 21 points in the 2000 Moir event.
Johnathan Gaddy — Gaddy pumped in 50 points for the Raiders in the 2010 tournament.
Lavon Hill and Qwan Rhyne — They combined for 40 points in 2014 as the Raiders knocked off Salisbury 62-59. That was South’s last win in the tournament.
