OLIN — East Rowan and North Iredell staged a gem of a non-conference boys basketball game on a quiet Tuesday night in Olin.
From wire to wire, neither team ever led by more than three points. North Iredell survived several late shots by the Mustangs and won 69-66.
“We played well, played with conviction,” East head coach Trey Ledbetter said. “That was the most efficient we’ve been on offense so far this season.”
North Iredell led 41-40 at halftime. East took a two-point lead to the fourth quarter.
“The first half was fast-paced with both teams making shot after shot and play after play,” Ledbetter said.
Logan Bradley overcame early foul trouble and led the Mustangs with four 3-pointers and 21 points. Brady Ailshie played all but 42 seconds and scored 17. AB Brent scored 11 and had a double-double. Reserve guard Jordan Anderson played well in the first half when Bradley and Jaden Eudy were in foul trouble.
“Not the outcome we wanted, but we’re making some great strides,” Ledbetter said.
East has played four road games and is 2-2. North Iredell put four in double figures and is 2-0.
Next for the Mustangs is the home opener against West Davidson next Tuesday.
