CHINA GROVE — Abdul Eliwa had two goals and two assists as Salisbury shut out Carson 4-0 in the South Piedmont Conference soccer on Tuesday.
The Hornets (13-0-5, 9-0-2) finished a sweep of the Cougars and are still undefeated in the 4A/5A league with three games left to play.
Eliwa scored with Alejandro Mercado assisting three minutes into the game.
Mercado made the finish after a great pass by Eliwa for a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes.
The Hornets led 2-0 at the break.
Raymond Moscoso scored from long distance for the Hornets’ third goal early in the second half. Eliwa had the assist.
Eliwa made it 4-0 two minutes later with his second goal.
Finnegan Avery recorded his 42nd career shutout. He’s the school and county record-holder.
Carson fell to 8-9 overall and 4-7 in the league.
Salisbury hosts South Rowan on Thursday. Matt Parrish’s former players will be gathering at that game to honor the long-time coach, and coaching legend Tom Sexton, the Hornets head coach before Parrish, will be announcing.
Carson hosts East Rowan on Thursday.
