SALISBURY — Salisbury goalkeeper Finnegan Avery recorded his 41st career shutout on Wednesday at Ludwig Stadium, adding to his county and school records.
Avery was aided by the defensive efforts of Henry Austin, Mohammed Jabateh and Johnathan Barrera in a 3-0 South Piedmont Conference win against Northwest Cabarrus.
Fouled in the box, Salisbury’s Abdul Eliwa was awarded a penalty kick. His shot was saved, but he stuck in the rebound for a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute.
The Hornets (12-0-5, 8-0-2) made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Kevin Reyes connected with Sam Goodman on a corner. Goodman headed in the goal for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Salisbury went up 3-0 early in the second half when Raymond Moscoso assisted on Eliwa’s second goal of the night.
