SALISBURY — Salisbury girls tennis started a new season in a new league and with a new coach.
Teen Aron is the new head coach for the Hornets, who played their first South Piedmont Conference match in 32 years and beat East Rowan 9-0.
Salisbury’s Meredith Williams, Lola Koontz, Gabbi Fatovic, Anna Kate Goodman, Campbell Aron and Mary Masters Goodman cruised in straight sets in the singles matches.
Williams-Anna Kate Goodman, Koontz-Fatovic and Aron-Mary Masters Goodman were winning doubles teams.
The Hornets are on the road Wednesday in the SPC at Robinson.
East (0-2) lost a non-conference match with Gray Stone.
Katelyn Overcash is playing No. 1 singles for the Mustangs.

MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan beat Concord 7-2 in SPC action on Monday.
Autumn Yount, Laney Moore, Olyvia Brown and Lucy Moore won singles matches for the Falcons, but the Spiders won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The doubles matches were close, but the Falcons (1-0) won them all.
Yount and Brown won 9-7 at No. 1 doubles. The Moore sisters won, and Finley Vanwassenhove and Regan Eggers bounced back from close singles losses to win their doubles match.

LANDIS — South Rowan lost a 5-4 match to Northwest Cabarrus in Monday’s SPC action.
The Raiders got singles wins from seniors Sophie Steedley (1), Audrey Daniel (2) and Kynlee Carey (4), but the Trojans were able to win at 3, 5 and 6.
Steedley-Daniel won at No. 1 doubles, but Northwest took the other two doubles match-ups to take the match.
South will host West Rowan on Wednesday.
