CONCORD – West Rowan’s 4×800 relay team took first place in the 5A West Regional held at Robinson on Friday. Jayden Romero, Ben Woodward, Luke Henson and Jonathan Medina ran 8:14.15.
The West boys took second in the 4×200 with Jacob Kirk, Jeremiah Bostic, Dillon Smith and Brennon Stevenson turning in a 1:30.77 clocking.
Smith was second in the long jump with an effort of 21 feet, 9 inches.
West scored 37 points for 10th place. The 4×400 team placed sixth. Medina was sixth in the 800. Kirk was seventh in the 300 hurdles. Wayne Hall was eighth in the 3200.

West’s girls were eighth with 32 points.
The 4×100 relay team of Torrin Everhart, Jada Neely, Jada Parks and Makaila Davidson ran 49.61 for second place.
Everhart was third in the long jump, while Alyrica Abel was fifth.
Parks was fourth in the 100 meters. Davidson was fifth in the triple jump and seventh in the 100. Neely placed seventh in the high jump and eighth in the 400.

Regional champs were the Robinson boys and Franklin girls. Top four finishers in each event advance to the state meet.
