The Rowan County Democrats and guest speaker, Sam Post, ask those interested to join them for “The Future of Cannabis in NC.”
All are invited to the monthly potluck breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m., RCDP Headquarters, 1504 W. Innes St., Salisbury. The event is free and one does not have to be a registered Democrat to attend. Doors open at 9:45 a.m.
A meet and greet town hall with local Democratic candidates will also take place at the East Branch of the Rowan Public Library on Saturday afternoon from 2:30-4:30 pm. Hosted by RCDP, that event is open to the public and is located at 110 Broad St, Rockwell.
Breakfast speaker and local resident Post, with wife Alicia, is the owner of PhenomWell Hemp Dispensary in Salisbury. Post and has built an independent cannabis retail reputation. Post, an educator, playwright, journalist and filmmaker, will speak to where cannabis now stands in the N.C. legislature. Author of “People & the Plant: Medicine, Prohibition, and the Long Road Back,” Post can speak to why N.C. lags behind most states on cannabis policy reform. For example, NC is one of only nine states that has not passed comprehensive medical cannabis legislation.
Last minute election information will be updated during breakfast as Early Voting begins on Thursday, Oct. 15 and the General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Candidate and constitutional amendment information and yard signs will be available. Interested voters can stay after breakfast to participate in writing postcards to rural voters with materials being provided.
RCDP has many events planned to Get Out the Vote, to educate voters on the issues, and to find actions that suit local residents as they commit to protect our American freedoms. Weekday office hours are 9-11 am, Monday – Friday. Look for the open signs out front for additional hours on weekends and weekdays.
