ROWAN COUNTY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested one man for murder and attempted murder in connection with a Mooresville altercation on Friday night.
On Friday, Sept. 4, at approximately 8:37 p.m., deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 1450 Oak Breeze Drive in Mooresville in reference to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies located Joshua Obugene, 38, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies also located Sarah Sharp, 38, who was unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. First responders provided medical treatment at the scene; however, Sharp was pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation indicated the suspected shooter fled the scene and may have been hiding in the surrounding area. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team responded to assist in locating the suspect.
Investigators identified the suspect as Jaylene Ty’rese White, 27. White was located at a nearby residence and taken into custody without incident.
Detectives determined that White and both victims were known to one another and that an ongoing conflict between the parties preceded the shooting.
White was charged with one count of murder in connection with the death of Sharp and one count of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of Obugene.
White was transported to the Rowan County Jail, where he was held without bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
