KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown won 28-27 against Mooresville on Friday for the program’s biggest win in quite a while.
The Wonders came back from a 21-14 halftime deficit.
Mooresville is 0-3, but is highly regarded, has played a strenuous early schedule (the Blue Devils will take on Hough next) and was favored to beat the Wonders, who are now 3-0.
Lemar Grier was a workhorse for A.L. Brown with 30 carries for 163 yards and his eighth touchdown of the young season.
AJ Settles had a terrific game, rushing for a touchdown and throwing two TD passes to Ashton Chavis. Settles was 13-for-18 passing and didn’t throw any picks.
Dhilyn Hollis made seven tackles for the Wonders and had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Faison Manning made eight tackles. Gabriel Jackson had a fumble recovery.
Mason Burgess kicked four critical PATs.
Weston Michalak threw four TD passes for Mooresville, two to Chanse Bost and two to Tyler Myers.

TRINITY — South Rowan overwhelmed Trinity 35-0 on the road on Friday and is 3-0.
South took control of the game in the first quarter and the defense shut down the Bulldogs (0-3) all night.
“Just a total team win,” South head coach Chris Walsh said. “We had to replace some injured players, but just about everyone that dressed played a part in the win. The guys continue to do everything we have asked of them.”
South got rushing TDs from Jamantay Cox, Nick Woolf, Willie Carlberg and quarterback Brooks Hunter.
Hunter threw a touchdown pass to tight end Lincoln Carlberg.
Cox had 145 rushing yards on only eight carries and also scored a 2-point conversion.
Caleb Stirewalt kicked three PATs.
Cox made an interception. Brylan Sloop and CJ Stamey recovered fumbles. Jeremy Davis Jr. forced a fumble.

WALKERTOWN — West Rowan dominated the second half and blasted Walkertown 43-6 on Friday.
“Played pretty well,” West coach Louis Kraft said. “We still had a bad taste in our mouths from losing to them at home last year.”
West (2-1) posted a staggering total of eight sacks, with Kayden Weeks and Haley McCullough getting three each. Kenneth Johnson had two.
Avion Casey made 12 tackles. Weeks, a defensive tackle who earned numerous accolades as a sophomore in 2025, had 10 tackles and an interception.
West’s pass rush was so ferocious that Walkertown (2-1) managed only 72 passing yards.
Nasir Conrad rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown to provide most of the Wolfpack’s offense.
West quarterback Aiden Donnelly had a huge rushing night, accounting for 108 yards and three TDs on seven carries.
Donnelly was 10 for 20 passing for one TD and was picked off twice.
Jaylen (Batman) Donaldson had six catches for 74 yards. Jacob Kirk caught Donnelly’s TD pass.
Devaunh White didn’t have a big yardage night, but he punched in two scoring runs for the Falcons.

GRANITE QUARRY — Piedmont (2-1) got all-world performances from running back Cooper Wise and linebacker Davis Weycker and beat East Rowan 35-14 at W.A. Cline Stadium on Friday.
Wise had 282 of Piedmont’s 304 rushing yards. He carried 26 times and scored four touchdowns.
Weycker, a Lenoir-Rhyne commit, made three interceptions, including a pick-six. He had 102 yards in interception returns.
Weycker had 12 tackles, with three for loss and forced a fumble.
East (2-1) trailed 28-6 at the half.
Nolan Rowell found the end zone for the Mustangs in the first half, and Sam Blackwelder caught a TD pass from Julian Cauble in the fourth quarter.
Cauble passed for 149 yards.
Ashur Tesh made 12 tackles for the Mustangs and recovered a fumble.
Stone Cherry made 10 tackles, three for loss.

WINSTON-SALEM — Oak Grove pounded Salisbury 52-0 on Friday, as the Hornets took their straight lopsided loss.
The Grizzlies (2-1) led 38-0 at halftime.
“Not really any bright spots tonight,” SHS head coach Clayton Trivett said. “We’ll keep working.”
Salisbury has an open week coming up before it takes on Carson to start South Piedmont Conference play.
Oak Grove will take on Davie next.
