Isabella Rusher, a 2014 Salisbury High graduate, was one of the county’s all-time high school and college female golfers.
During Rusher’s four seasons playing for coach Dale Snyder, the Hornets won four straight team state championships. They won all four overwhelmingly — by 33, 60, 57 and 42 strokes.
It was an era in which the Hornets had two of the best ever playing together for three seasons — Rusher and 2015 SHS graduate Grace Yatawara.
Rusher was at her best in the state tournaments. She was individual state champion in 2011 and 2012. She was state runner-up in 2013 and 2014.
An outstanding student who was president of the National Honor Society, Rusher went on to have college success at the University of Richmond.
She shot a 3-under 68 to tie the program record for the Spiders and was first team All-Patriot League in 2017 after finishing third in the conference tournament.
The back end of her career was shortened by illness, but she was fifth in program history in stroke average (77.58) when she graduated in 2019.
Rusher will be on the Salisbury-Rowan Hall of Fame ballot for the first time in 2027.
