CLEVELAND — The Rowan Public Library West branch in Cleveland will serve as a meal distribution site for the Rowan-Salisbury Schools Summer Meal program.
Starting May 28 and running through July 28, families can get free meals available Monday through Friday at sites throughout Rowan County. There will not be a meal service on July 3.
The meals will be served from the Yum Yum Bus parked outside RPL West at 201 School St., Cleveland, starting at 11 a.m. from Monday through Friday. Children ages three to 18 can receive free lunch from a summer meals program site, but the children must be present to receive a meal and eat at the site.
“This initiative reflects a shared commitment among community partners to address health disparities and improve outcomes for children across Rowan County. By increasing access to nutritious foods and hosting meal distribution at RPL West, the program not only meets immediate nutritional needs but also connects families to valuable and free library resources, such as RPL’s summer reading program events and reading initiatives for all ages,” RPL said in a statement about the program
Some of the days, RPL West will host free story time and Big Show programs featuring guest hosts like Shepherd Shakespeare, the Critter Keeper, Rowan Wild and others. A complete list of summer activities for RPL West and other library locations is available at tinyurl.com/RPLSRP26.
