LANDIS – Jayven Parks homered in the fourth inning for one of the few Rowan County highlights in Friday’s 7-1 home loss to High Point.
Parks’ blast was the first homer of the season for Rowan (2-2).
Ryan Hendricks pitched a complete game with six strikeouts for Post 87. Cooper Marks homered. Nick Salas knocked in three runs.
Rowan hit several balls hard in the fourth, but a base-running mistake took Rowan out of the inning. Carter Durant, Luke Ponczka and Brant Graham had hits for Rowan.
Parker Durant started on the mound, but was knocked out by High Point’s three-run first. Maddox Moore pitched four innings in relief. He shut out High Point in the fourth, fifth and sixth, but the visitors scored three in the seventh.
