Tuesday games …
CONCORD – Carson pounded Concord 13-2 on Tuesday in South Piedmont Conference action.
Maverick Walters socked his first homer of the season, and the Cougars (6-8, 6-2) took eight walks and produced plenty of offense to back the strong pitching of Dylan Alexander.
Alexander struck out nine Spiders (2-12, 1-7) in the five-inning game.
Walters had two hits and scored four runs. Jase Overcash scored four runs.
Carson Kirk had two hits. Will Beck had two hits and knocked in three.

SALISBURY – Northwest Cabarrus swept Salisbury in a South Piedmont Conference doubleheader played on Tuesday.
The Hornets (1-12, 0-8) had their full roster for the first time in a while, with Bryson Honeycutt returning to action and golfer Nolt Lescoe available to help on the mound.
“We played a lot better in the field,” Salisbury coach Carson Herndon said. “We had one bad inning (the second) in both games.”
The Trojans (4-9, 2-6) notched their first two SPC wins of the season – 12-2 and 10-0.
Honeycutt had three hits in the doubleheader for the Hornets, and Ben Young had a hit.
Northwest won 12-2 in the first game despite a strong mound performance by Honeycutt, who struck out 10 with no walks in a game that went six innings. Tate Willis was the winning pitcher. Ben Able had a double and a triple for the Trojans.
Northwest got shutout pitching from Connor Landers in the second game. He struck out eight in four innings.

LANDIS – South Rowan scored nine runs in the first inning and breezed to an 11-1 South Piedmont Conference win against Robinson on Tuesday.
South (12-1, 6-1) stayed one game behind East Rowan in the SPC standings. The Mustangs were 2-1 winners against West Rowan.
South had eight hits and made no errors in a five-inning game. Brycen Burris pitched well for the Raiders.
South ended the game early with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Jackson Kemp homered for the Bulldogs (5-8, 3-4).

CONCORD – A.L. Brown scored five runs in the third inning and beat Central Cabarrus 6-0 for a Greater Metro Conference win on Tuesday.
The Wonders (12-2, 7-0) are in a three-way battle for first with Hickory Ridge and Cox Mill. The Vikings are 7-6, 4-5.

MISENHEIMER – Gray Stone beat North Rowan 13-0 on Tuesday for the Knights’ first Yadkin Valley Conference victory.
Daulton McPherson pitched a five-inning shutout.
Logan Aikman had a triple and five RBIs for the Knights (4-5, 1-4). Aikman and Cliffton Hatley had three hits.
North (2-8, 1-4) had six hits and made some progress. The Cavaliers put the ball in play (only one strikeout) and had their best fielding game (one error).
“The final score really wasn’t indicative of how we played or how the game went,” North coach Tim Everett said. “We worked together and we have started to establish a team culture. We played loser to our full potential on defense. This game could be a turning point for us. We look forward to playing Gray Stone again on Thursday.”
Caleb Everett pitched three innings, struck out four and allowed two earned runs.
Zane Smith had two hits and stole a base. Freshman London Fincher made his first start in right field and went 2-for-2.
