SALISBURY — A storage building at The Revival Golf Club at the Crescent was severely damaged in a Friday fire, with firefighters being forced to back out to a defensive fire attack due to the intensity of the fire.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire at approximately 9:20 a.m., and Fire Chief Bob Parnell said they arrived on scene shortly after and found heavy fire showing from the roof.
During their firefighting efforts, firefighters were confronted with extreme conditions inside the building and the battalion chief on scene called for defensive attack, said Parnell, meaning they work on the fire from outside and focus on containing it, to keep it from spreading to nearby buildings or machinery.
During the fire, two firefighters suffered minor injuries. One firefighter suffered a knee injury and another suffered a neck injury when aluminum from the building fell on him. Parnell said both firefighters were transported to the hospital in “an abundance of caution.”
The building was golf cart storage and had multiple vehicles inside of it.
The Salisbury Fire Marshals Office was on scene to investigate the fire.
No Crescent employees were injured in the incident.
