SALISBURY — The NCHSAA plans to release the brackets for the wrestling dual team state playoffs on Friday, Jan. 30.
There have been some tweaks to the system with eight classifications.
The 1A and 2A schools will be combined into a field of 16 playoff teams.
The 8A schools also will have a field of 16 playoff teams.
In 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A and 7A, the field is 32 teams.
Seeding is RPI-based. RPI factors in not only won-lost records, but strength of schedule.
West Rowan is expected to be the No. 1 seed in the 5A West bracket. East Rowan projects as a No. 4 seed, while Carson looks like the No. 7 seed.
South Rowan is expected to be seeded seventh in the 4A West bracket.
In the 7A West bracket, Davie is expected to be the No. 1 seed, with A.L. Brown the likely third seed.
Salisbury and North Rowan are not projected to make the dual team playoffs.
The first and second rounds of the dual teams playoffs will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Four teams will wrestle at one venue, with the first-round winners matching up in the second round.
The third round and the fourth round (regional final) will take place on Thursday, Feb. 7.
State championship matches will be held at Greensboro Coliseum on Feb. 7.
