SALISBURY — Mary Spry (Carson) is having a great season for Catawba’s women’s basketball team and scored 23 points in 22 minutes on Saturday.
Spry led the Indians to a 79-66 South Atlantic Conference victory against Emory & Henry at Goodman Arena.
Spry averaged 17.8 points on 56-percent shooting and 6.2 rebounds in Catawba’s 11 pre-Christmas games.
Catawba (5-6, 3-3) took control of Saturday’s game in front of 282 fans with a 16-0 run in the first quarter.
The Wasps (3-8, 1-5) had a rebounding edge, but coughed up 31 turnovers, including 17 Catawba steals.
Brooklin Ingram made four 3-pointers and scored 14 for Catawba. Imani Williams had nine points and eight assists.

SALISBURY — Livingstone’s women’s basketball team lost on Saturday to Barton despite 33 points and 10 rebounds by Breasia Coit.
Barton beat the Blue Bears 74-70 at New Trent Gym as Livingstone sunk to 1-10 for the season.
The Bulldogs are 5-4, but Coit’s massive game gave the Blue Bears a chance for an upset.
Celeste Bailey and Layne Sleight scored 15 each for Barton.
MaKayla Noble, former Salisbury High standout, came off the bench for Barton and had nine points and four rebounds in 15 minutes.
Livingstone got 12 points from Jasiyah Crawford. Jamyrah Cherry, Noble’s teammate at Salisbury, scored five.
