MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan’s boys basketball team started strong but couldn’t sustain its momentum in Wednesday’s 77-53 loss to Davie.
“We had some five-point leads and played a good first half for our first game,” West head coach Dadrian Cuthbertson said. “But Davie got really hot on 3s in the third quarter. They made a bunch, make like three in a row, and we went down double digits. Then, in the fourth quarter, it just got away from us.”
Caleb Queen scored 13 to lead the Falcons. He’s a forward who transferred from West Cabarrus last school year. This was his first game for West. Josiah Young scored 10.
Drae Nance and Ethan Driver, Davie’s pass-catch combination on the football field, combined for 41 points. Noah Dulin added 16.
Davie (2-0) opened with an 83-73 win against Southeast Guilford.
West (0-1) will look to bounce back Friday against Community School of Davidson.
